Thirty-four year-old Stephanie Skyy may have become a serious pole addict overnight but her strength, flexibility and pole precision didn’t happen as quickly. It took five years of practice and determination to turn her into the pole performer captivating the attention of audiences today, with her signature, theatrical performances. Stephanie Skyy leaves the competition behind with her moves but she’s not that different from the rest of us. She tells us which trick scares her the most, why she poles and how pole dance changed her life.
How did you get into pole dance?
Funny story: my girlfriend saw the Divafit pole studio in Leesburg, Virginia, advertised in a local paper. She and another friend of mine took a class there. They immediately decided, “Stephanie will love this.” They signed me up for the following week’s class and then called me to tell me I had to try it. I went to that first pole class and haven’t stopped poling since.
